Pilates Explained

What is Pilates?

Developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920’s, Pilates is a mind-body exercise method that focuses on improving posture. It is a system of slow controlled strengthening and stretching exercises that aim to increase mobility and range of movement, developing a strong supple body.

Pilates is taught in the form of MAT classes, where everyone follows the same exercises, and in smaller STUDIO classes, where clients follow their own individual programme of exercises using Pilates apparatus.

Why Pilates?

Pilates can be adapted to meet the needs of all, whether you are an athlete looking to improve performance or currently sedentary and looking to get moving again or rehabilitate from injury.
